Meet Liliana Olmos by Bold Journey Magazine

We recently connected with Liliana Olmos and have shared our conversation below.
Liliana, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my family and my roots in Colombia, where I learned early on that building something of your own takes deep grit and vision. When I moved to Houston to launch my own jewelry design brand, I was starting from scratch. At first, I faced rejection after rejection from art shows and struggled to find my audience in a new city.
Instead of giving up, I treated every rejection as feedback. I studied how the industry operated, spent time understanding my customers, and kept refining my approach. Today, I present my collections at top art fairs across the country. That experience proved to me that a setback isn’t a dead end, it’s just an invitation to adapt.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the founder and artist behind Olmox Fine Filigree Jewelry, where I specialize in creating handcrafted filigree jewelry. Filigree is an incredibly intricate and delicate art form, and what I find most exciting about my work is bringing this beautiful technique to life through unique designs and high-quality materials. Because everything is handmade, every single piece I create is truly a labor of love

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back at my journey with Olmox, three specific qualities and skills have been the most impactful in shaping my path: taking the time to truly master the technique, remaining adaptable, and cultivating confidence in myself
My biggest piece of advice for those just starting their journey is to give yourself grace as you learn your craft. Mastering a technique takes time, so focus on the process rather than demanding immediate perfection. To build your adaptability and confidence, try to view every unexpected challenge as a learning opportunity rather than a setback. Step out of your comfort zone, trust your unique voice, and don’t be afraid to put your work out there. True confidence doesn’t happen overnight; it grows with every single step you take

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Balancing the traditional craftsmanship of handmade jewelry with the fast-moving digital marketing world, all while prioritizing family time!
Right now, my number one challenge is keeping up with how fast technology and digital marketing are constantly changing.
While traveling to art shows across the country has been a cornerstone of Olmox, my priorities have naturally shifted. I have a 5-year-old daughter, and I want to spend as much quality time with her as possible during these foundational years. My primary goal is to shift more of my focus toward my website, www.olmox.com, so I can reduce my heavy travel schedule while still growing the business.
However, staying on top of modern e-commerce trends, social media algorithms, and digital marketing tools can be overwhelming when you are also handcrafting jewelry full-time.
To overcome this, I am actively investing time into learning about AI. I am focusing on optimizing my website, streamlining my online marketing. It’s a big learning curve, but finding that balance between traditional artisan craftsmanship and modern technology is helping me build a sustainable business model—one that lets me share my wearable art with the world while being present for my daughter
